Attention union members, families, and apprentices—if you’re looking to further your education or trade training this year, a significant opportunity is waiting for you right here in Hudson County.
The Hudson County Central Labor Council (HCCLC), AFL-CIO, is officially accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program. Designed to support the next generation of workers and leaders, these awards recognize academic merit and a commitment to the labor movement.
Here is everything you need to know to apply.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify, an applicant must be:

A member, spouse, or child of a member of a local union affiliated with the Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

Alternatively, an individual in a registered apprenticeship program that falls under the scope of an affiliated union.

Enrolled (either full or part-time) in an accredited college, post-high school program, or approved apprenticeship.
Note: To ensure fair distribution, if you received a scholarship last year, you are ineligible for a consecutive award this year.
The Awards
A total of 14 scholarships will be awarded based on merit and scholastic ability:

Three (3) Edward B. Pulver Scholarships: $1,000.00 each.

Three (3) Donna Benjamin Scholarships: $1,000.00 each.

Eight (8) Trade Scholarships: $500.00 each.
How to Apply
The selection committee looks for well-rounded applicants who understand the value of organized labor. Your application packet must include:

A Recent Transcript: From your most recent institution of learning.

A Short Essay: (500 words or fewer) outlining your career goals, aspirations, and work experience. Be sure to describe your connection to the labor movement and why you are a strong candidate for a union-backed scholarship.
