The Abraham Solomon Scholarship supports students from union families who are pursuing college or post–high school education at an accredited school. Offered by the Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council, AFL-CIO, the scholarship is open to full-time and part-time students who are union members, or the spouse or child of a union member. Awards are given for one academic year and are based mainly on merit, with applicants asked to share their goals, work experience, and connection to the labor movement. Applications must be sent by mail and received by February 27, 2026.

The Edward Purtil Community Service Scholarship supports students from union families who have shown a strong commitment to giving back. Offered by the Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council, AFL-CIO, this scholarship is open to union members, or the spouse or child of a union member, who are enrolled in an accredited college or post–high school program. Both full-time and part-time students may apply. Awards are based on merit and community service, with applicants asked to share their volunteer experience and a letter from the organizations they served. Four scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded for one academic year, and all applications must be received by February 27, 2026.
